An oasis where contemporary Japanese architecture is fused with inspired elements of a traditional Tokyo ryokan… Zeitaku. Luxury is typically associated with lavish décor, fancy restaurants and extravagance sans limit but hidden within the cosmopolitan Otemachi district of Tokyo rests a new form of Zeitaku. Peeled back to mere perfection, the walls of Hoshinoya Tokyo house not just luxury but minimalistic beauty blended with striking architecture in its finest form. A true nod to the traditional Japanese ryokan, this hotel is the epitome of thoughtful design and an integration of inspiring elements. It could just be the best ryokan in Tokyo. Upon entering the wooden doorway carved from a single slab of cypress tree, tatami mats and staff greet you to immediately whisk away your shoes so you feel at home. Placed in bamboo boxes that soak up scent and artistically form a patterned wall in the foyer, this is the first of many intriguing inventions found throughout the hotel that are so simple yet effective and brilliant in their purpose. Unlike regular hotels, the vibe at Hoshinoya Tokyo is like stepping into a zen space where light, sound and textures have been used to artfully remove all distractions. Rather...

Hoanib Skeleton Coast – Wilderness Safaris Let’s start with this statement – once you’ve experienced Hoanib, you’ll forever want to return. I promise. Be mesmerised and intrigued by the landscapes, animals and the atmosphere of this magnificent and even otherworldly glamping experience in Namibia. What the team have created here is almost beyond words, actually, it’s best described in song and dance, something the staff are more than competent in performing; not me, I wouldn’t put anyone through that. Instead I’ve put together a collection of photographs from my time at Hoanib Skeleton Coast, where I took roughly 8500 images in 3 days. Not joking. Located within a remote area of dry riverbeds in the Kaoloveld, it’s where unforgiving conditions provide the setting for an adventure like no other. Here wildlife exists where it seems impossible, their habits adapted to the harsh desert environment of the Skeleton Coast. Wake to a golden glow on the horizon that softly illuminates the scenes surrounding your tent. In the distance perhaps a giraffe is nibbling on acacia trees, a dust cloud is stirred by passing oryx and the fresh morning air provides a burst of energy on your walk to breakfast. Then, a...

Where pulling back the curtains reveals the bustling waterway, rugged mountain peaks and stunning scenery of Vancouver, Canada. Welcome to Fairmont Waterfront, it’s beeutiful (you’ll see why 😉). Few hotels offer the ability to photograph landscape images from your room. Not only that but you can even lie on your cushy bed and capture the alpine scenery from a room at Fairmont Waterfront, one of Vancouver’s best located hotels for snap happy travellers. Before getting cosy at night, leave your curtains a little bit open so the morning sun rays will gently alert you to the snow-capped peaks changing colour outside your floor to ceiling window. It’s really quite hard to put your camera down and turn on the TV or take a shower actually! The views here were the main reason I chose to stay at the Fairmont Waterfront when I visited Vancouver back in 2009 then again this year, nine years later. It’s every mountain lovers dream scene and not only that, the in-room luxuries are ready and waiting to keep you very comfortable during your stay. If you happen to be staying at the hotel there’s of course plenty more to explore outside of your room too....
