In reply to <a href="https://www.thewanderinglens.com/best-photography-locations-monaco/#comment-397909">Debra Loberg</a>.

September is such a beautiful time of year along the coast and 10hrs is plenty of time to see some gorgeous viewpoints and wander around Monte Carlo/Monaco. If you're around the port, palace and casino, it's quite easy to stroll around during the day as they're not too far apart. The pathway beneath the Oceanographic Museum is actually from the carpark there, so as far as I know, and unless any events are happening during your visit, it should be open and there's an escalator access at the end to venture up to the museum, and old town. You'll find wandering around the old town, along the narrow streets, but also around the paths on the perimeter will lead to plenty of good photography opportunities. The old town 'Rocher de Monaco', where the palace is located, is up high, so there are a lot of great viewpoints here that are easily found. Have a wonderful trip!

I loved your post about Monaco/Monte Carlo! I am planning a visit in September 2025 and will be in Port Hercules for just 10 hours. Are the photography spots you recommended, like the pathway near the Oceanographic Museum, still accessible and relevant? Are there other must-see locations you'd highly recommend for great photos within this short timeframe? Any tips for making the most of such a brief visit would be greatly appreciated.

Love your photos. As a tennis fan myself, I am surprised you didn't have one of courts at the country club that looks out on the sea. If I ever get there it's the first place I am going! If you haven't been there try. I have seen it on TV and it is impressive.

In reply to <a href="https://www.thewanderinglens.com/best-photography-locations-monaco/#comment-6122">Anna</a>.

Hi Anna, so lovely to read your comment! I'm happy you found my guide useful :)
I might be a little late in getting back to you, did you manage to find the pathway okay?
If you're still in town, it's easiest to access it the first time from the lift beside the Oceanographic Museum. Take it down to the carpark and then keep an eye out for a door way on the right side leading out to the side of the building. Then follow this around the car park and eventually the path will venture past the beaches etc.
Hope you had a great trip!

Hi Lisa, I was so taken with your images and this blog post that I just had to comment! It's the best article I've seen on Monaco and its sights, so thank you so much for creating it!

I am heading to Monaco tomorrow for a couple of days and would LOVE to find your secret pathway from Port Hercules to Oceanographic Museum. Do you have any more specific directions? (I couldn't find it on Google Maps).

Thanks so much for reading this, for any advice or tips you may have and for sharing this!

Have a great day x

In reply to <a href="https://www.thewanderinglens.com/best-photography-locations-monaco/#comment-5425">Ben Richards</a>.

Hi Ben, if you're just wandering around as a tourist you don't need a permit to take photos. If you're in Monaco on a photography job or are actually working as paparazzi then you'll definitely seek a permit. Also I'd advice against hanging out in front of the casino too long with a zoom lens haha. There's a number of security cameras around town so you'll probably be spotted if you're creeping in the bushes ;)

These photos are fab! Did you need a permit to take photos in Monaco? You hear so many horror stories about filling out pages and pages of paperwork for fear of being arrested as paparazzi! Thanks
